I am restoring my '75 Bronoc.....302 w/C4 transmission.

Two questions for yall:

1. (and this one has probably been asked a gazillion times...so sorry). What kind of gas mileage do yall get with the standard 302 Automatic. I can squeeze 14 miles mpg out of mine if I drive like granny. And only 10 mpg when I drive like a normal person. Can I change to another carb/intake set-up and get better mileage?

2. (I guess this is really three questions) During the restoration, I will replace the original stock (single) gas tank with a new 23 gallon unit. Can I eliminate the whole charcoal canister thing when I add the new tank.....without screwing anything up. And it so, what do I need to do?

Thanks much yall

Happy New Year

Hi Kirk.,

Automatic., 4x4., low gears., V/8., & aerodynamics of a 5'x5' sheet of plywood = mileage reduction.

Yours sounds about normal., except getting 14 is pretty amazing.

Going to a late model injection motor may help., but it would take 10 yrs. to make up the cost.

Local laws may determine the canister issue., but I've not seen one thats still in operation.

Plugged up & abandoned is usually the case.
