I have a 351M in my 1980 Bronco, I need to get a 5 speed manual transmission to replace my 4 speed manual, I have heard that the ZF 5spd will bolt up to the 460 nut don't know wheter it will bolt up to 400/351M, and i know that the very common Mazda 5spd will only bolt up to the small block 351's (windsor and cleveland). So my question is, is this tranny a good option (if it will work) or should I go with a different motor and tranny (351W, or 302) since 351M is becoming more and more obsolete?

there are zf tranny's that will bolt up to the the 351 (small block) and ones that will bolt up to the big block 460's

when you are looking for a replacement tranny just make sure it's one that's for the small block

i did the swap in my 95 and loved it. highly reccomend the zf swap

The 351M/ 400 have a bigblock bolt pattern though for the tranny bellhousing, like the 429/460.
