i know how they work, and the differences between them. then i read that upgrading speed density motors was useless without first going to MAF. Why?

The speed density system is pre set . The EEC was programmed to the cam,s characteristics in the motor like lift , duration and such . It was also pre programmed what volume of air the motor would be taking in . So if you get too far away from these parameteres then things will not work right and performance will suffer rather than gain . With mass air the EEC actually gets a measurement of how much air went into the motor and calculates fuel and ignition curves from there so when you put that big cam in there and the motor is now taking in lots more air the EEC will know how much fuel to add . Thats why they tell you that mass air should be the first mod . I used a comp cam cam in my bronco its special for computer controlled fords and was very happy with it but anymore and Id have to switch also . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
