Have any of you heard of a Aussie Locker? I am trying to find affordable lockers for my rising rust project. I wish money was not an issue, but it is. I see a lot of different lockers out there. Some seems to stay within the $300 ea price range. Do you think these are ok? I want to put lockers in both front and rear. The majority of the running this machine will do is in the swamp playing. There will be only about 10% of the miles on the highway.

If you are looking in the 300 range look at 4wheel parts. They have a "Quick-lock" for about that. Or for just a few more bucks the Detroit Ez-Lock is in the range.

If you are wanting something cheap, but gives you full traction, go with a spool. They are about $150/differential. Only bad thing about them is that there is no way to unlock them. Complete posi, anytime you are in it.
I agree with the spool. I have ran the Detroit E-Z for a couple of years now. I have had two of them and both failed. I have switched to the spool since there is nothing on them to fail. So far, it has been great.
I run a Detroit Gearless up front. It works very well. It never slips but still allows you turning radius.

You could only put a spool up front if you had disconnects for it. Even then, when you locked in the front, it would be really hard to turn.
As for the rear, it just churps the tires when you make turns but once you get used to it, you don't even notice the spool anymore.
Like I said, with a spool, there is nothing to break. With a locker or limited slip, you eventually wear down the clutches or break teath.....

With this bronco, I have manual lock outs for the front to engage 4wd. The only time I would ever have the front wheels locked in would be on the dirt or in the mud. I would never have any reason to have them locked on the pavement. Do you think this would be accecptable? With the front set up with a spool, would it really make that much difference with the steering on the dirt or in the mud?

p.s. I really appreciate all the help you guys are giving me on this project. I have always wanted a true 4 wheel drive bronco so when I need 4 wheels pulling, I have 4 wheels pulling. But as with many, money has a lot to do with the project.
