Hi Everyone,

When it rains, water drips from under my dash on the drivers side. What are some likely places to look? Windshield seal? Is there anything notoriously leaky in that area?

Thanks for any help you can lend.

i had my windshield leak, it ran down the bottom to the back of the dash and dripped out onto my feet. When i pulled the trim off i found the top corner was improperly glued down(someone did me a favor, some favor). other than the windshield im not sure what else could be leaking in. The cowl area between the hood and windshield maybe if you had some holes but i would bet the top or bottom corner of your windshield.

Shift, thanks for the reply. I'll dig in to that first. The metal trim around the window..... is that easy to wreck taking it off? Is there any special tool?

it easy easy to wreck. there is an order that it needs to come apart but honestly the only thing i remember is doing it wrong:) Do you have a service manual? If not ill have a look in mine tonight for you. I believe you pop the top corner pieces off first and everything else interlocks from there.

yo!

Yes as shift cited, you can damage the moulding, but it is aval in most yards in F series or broncos

Here are 2 moulding removal tool pics & info;

Windshield Moulding Removal in an 89 by J.R.

http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/282108/...size/89-154.jpg by Steve..."...This is the tool I like....the sharp points help.

Slip the tool under the trim and slide until you hit the clip. Rock the tool pulling the clip away from the body. Push at the bottom of the trim and the top should pop up..." Nothing clips to the glass; they all go on rivet studs in the body. There are ~16 of the upper clips & ~7 of the lower ones, but they're all reuseable. All '80-96 trucks use the same clips & moulding, and this tool works for both clips. See the NEXT few pics for more info.

Windshield Moulding Removal & Tool Instructions & pics in 80-96; "...Nothing clips to the glass; they all go on rivet studs in the body. There are ~16 of the upper clips & ~7 of the lower ones, but they're all reuseable. All 80-96 trucks use the same clips & moulding, and this tool works for both clips. See the NEXT few pics for more info. The tool slips under the windshield trim. Slide it to hook the clips, beginning at a joint near a corner; Hold the tool at an angle so one point goes behind the clip. Turn the tool to pry the clip slightly toward the center of the w/s, then lift the trim just enough to disengage it from the clip. The lower trim clips are different, but they're released the same way..."

New Clips are in high demand but avail at a few sources; local windshield repair, NAPA, etc.;, & Ford dealers

and yards...

Windshield Belt Molding Clip E1DZ-6629100-A 2.00 Each

every windshield needs 9 of these at the bottom

WINDSHIELD MOLDING CLIP KITThese are the clips that hold on the metal trim molding around the windshield. There is enough clips in this kit to install the moldings around 1 windshield.

APPLICATIONS:

80-96 FORD F150 PICKUP

80-98 FORD F250, F350 PICKUP

80-96 FORD FULL-SIZE BRONCO

Glass shops use a smoke machine or smoke candles (Diesel service shops have something like this for DIY; tell em why you need them and they'll give you enuf; may need to use plastic sheeting to contain smoke close to windshield on inside (cab).. they use Butyl to re-seal the ws.

Check under carpet or mat to ensure water is not damaging the PCM... in reply mode, I can's see your year... so am trying to recall..later year? Look for water trails on connector, PCM, etc.
