LOL but did you set it to top dead center on the compression stroke ? Heres what you do pull the distributor out and pull number one plug out front one passenger side . Now I dont want to hear about safety here this is how I do it make sure its in park and I have a switch that clamps onto the hot side ot the solenoid and to the start signal post I work on stuff by myself most of the time so you must be creative to get anything done . When you push the button on the switch the motor will roll over and I say to have it in park because reguardless of where the shifter is its goona roll over . Now put your thumb over the plug hole and tap the button when you feel air pushing your thumb off the hole its coming up on the compression stroke remember it comes up twice compression and exhaust . Now that you know its coming up I unhook the switch and take a thin screwdriver and put it in the spark plug hole so I can feel the piston now with a big ratchet or breaker bar and a 15/16 socket put it on the crank bolt at the harmonic damnpener and slowly turn the motor over with one hand while holding the screwdriver in the other to feel the piston come up as soon as it starts down back up a bit and youll be very close ( close enough ) and if your lucky there will be a 0 at the timing pointer . Now you have set top dead center compression stroke . Now put the distributor back in and make sure the rotor pointer is directly lined up with one of the terminals doesnt matter which one as long as you understand that that terminal is now number one plug wire and then follow the rest of the firing order for a 351 going counter clockwise . Once done it will start if theres fuel , compression and spark . Now if it doesnt start I would try the 302 firing order and to do this all you have to do is rearange the wires once you set TDC you will not have to do that again reguardless the firing order TDC is TDC the firing order is just the next one in line to be at TDC . If it does run with the 302 firing order then you now know how much confidence to have in the people that built the motor and once it does start if it doesnt run worth a shit then we have already had that discussion in another post . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Hey Blade... Isn't that switch you're talking about also called a "bump start" switch? That's what we always called it at least... A push button switch and two wires? Kind of like bypassing the starter solinoid? And for as many times as I've done it I don't find it less safe than someone bumping the engine with a key?

Yes sometimes its called a bump switch but it doesnt bypass the solenoid it remotely activates it theres not too many push buttons that would handle the current draw of a starter motor . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
