how can you tell if one of your fuel pumps id bad?my 86 runs decint but lacks power.it has a 302 efi in it.its wierd when i try and start it it runs for a second then shuts off,but when i start it agin it'll run fine.also my gas millage is crappy even for having 35's.

I dunno how big you toolchest is but by chance can you put a *gage* on the fuel line and tell us what you're seeing for actual fuel pressure ?

i found out that my fuel filter was cloged by gunk and a leaf?dont ask.it is a pain to get the o ringto set right does all the newer broncos have in "floating" fuel filter?

On my '86 there's two fuel pumps.. There's a low pressure pump in the tank itself, which supplies a resevoir located in the frame rail under the driver's door, and then there's a high pressure fuel pump that supplies the injectors from that resevoir.

I had to replace the low pressure one, which meant dropping the tank.
