Hmmm, when you cut your fenders, do it while you are on concrete, or black top, that way the engine won't get muddy at all.

Just kidding :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Welcome to BroncoZone! >

I'm just guessing here... but cutting the fenders won't reflect more mud inside the engine compartment, unless you also cut back the wheel well.

One thing I can suggest (from my very little experience with mudding) is to consider getting an electric fan cooling system. This way you can switch it off before you hit a big puddle. Last time I went out, my fan threw muddy water all over the engine compartment, It would have been a lot cleaner if I could have switched it off.

I think I know what you're asking, hummer, since I've cut the fenders 3" on the 78 Bronco and plan on the same for the 84. In my case, I've always run without the inner fender pieces, and really don't get alot of mud inside the engine bay. If you want to keep them, you'll need to trim the inner fenders the same as you do the sheetmetal, then drill new holes for some screws/ rivets to tie them back in. You might also be able to use a set from another vehicle that will match the new, larger fender opening. JSM84
