would a new converter increase air flow? or increase fuel milage for that matter?
Well, I could ask the specifics about what year & engine but truth be told it doesn't much matter at this point. There was a time back in the 70's & 80's when it mattered but it hasn't for a long time. Sure, a new converter will help your airflow if you have an old/original/70's type or if the one you DO have has been run for hundreds of thousands of miles. Yes, the new converters DO move more air than the older ones did but unless you've found & been using a source of leaded fuel the chances that you've actually fouled a modern converter are pretty slim. Shit, I dunno, maybe you've been burning nail-polish remover. Anyways, if you DO need a new converter then yes, the new hi-flow converters move a LOT more air and they handle a lot more horsepower than the old ones did. Modern converters can *easily* handle upwards of 500HP without sacraficing any airflow at all, take a few and ck the numbers for yourself. Increased airflow will translate into better fuel economy and better milage, once again, ck the numbers.
