i have a 78 bronco and according to chiltons manual the cable on the outside under the hood mounted by where the heater hoses hooks in is the temp hi low blend door cable. no matter what position the controls inside are in this cable never moves. i disconnected the cable and can move the arm and hear the door inside moving but im not even sure what this is supposed to do. i have a hi-lo settingon the control unit inside. does anybody know what this hi low is and where air should blow while its in this position. my heat works but it blows out the floor a little bit in every position. also i am wanting to try to fix my a/c soon and i cant find a wire close to the compressor to plug into it. does anybody know which wire from the control unit should be hot to turn on the a/c clutch?

It seems that this is your problem.

no matter what position the controls inside are in this cable never moves.

I guess you need to make sure that it is connected to the control lever on the inside, perhpas the cable is rusted or otherwise frozen, and you need to lubricate it and make it slide smoothely within its sheath. OR replace it.

Did I miss something?
