helping getting started?!

Hello everyone my name is scott. a few years back my father and i decided to start working on a 66 ford bronco and everything pretty much fell apart. all we got down is pretty much getting it running and getting some interior and exterior done to it(painting, weather stripping door panels carpets etc). well then i went off and joined the military and now i have plenty of money to work on it but now he wants to sell it. so i told him im going to buy it off him. i want to start and dont know where to start exactly. ive heard of puting the 5.0 in it but i dont know where to find one. pretty much i want to make it a vehicle to do enough offroading so i can still go out hunting fishing and camping but not at too extremes. keep in mind that im only 19 and only know so much, ive only done a few engine swaps, about a dozen trasmissions, a couple lifts, some gears, and some body work, but im still working on getting better. i got everything i need to work on it, theres a auto hobby shop on base that lets anyone work on there cars daily. and ill have plenty of money to get working on it. so anyone got any advice?

Draw up a blueprint on what you want it to do. Find as many EB bronco pictures as you can find. Superford.org is a great utility for research. you can spend a day learning the site and a couple months looking at pictures. Type in the year of yours and look at every picture. then move on to the other eb's and look at eery picture. the ones that really catch your eye write down the info on how to find it again and really study every build. Then do your list again of what you want and compare it to your old one. Then take the list of all the Broncos that you really liked and start researching some of the work they did. Is much better to read about what everyone else did and the problems they encountered then learn from them. Then once you have all this info you will be ready to start gathering parts. Dana the admin of this site has an absolutly gorgeous eb, as do a few others on this site. I cant tell you how to build your truck cause then its built for me, you will find out with all your research what you want out of it. I have to build 4 Broncos to get what I want out of mine, and I will. Goodluck and ask lots of questions.

Hay Scott..,

1st., thanks for your service to this country.

2nd., you prob. have as much, if not more experience than many on this board. Some will need your help.

3rd., the EB is basic "old school" & pretty simple to work on.

4th., the $$ can go fast., so save a bit for the "ladies" ...!!

Safty should be your first priority., brakes, steering, lights, wiring, etc.

BTW., where are you., what eng. is in there now, etc..? (filling in your signature info would be helpful)

Eng. swap shouldn't be a priority....

Once everything is clean & working.., you can go back & personalize.

One "rule of thumb" is., ea. major change req. several other changes.

That shop is 50% of the battle...& you'll have more help than you need when other soldiers see your rig..!!
