help..... body rot in a bad place

No real good way. If your springing for paint, save yourself the heart ache and have it done right. Die Grind a square and have a panel welded in. Your gonna kick yourself when six month old paint bubbles with rust or chips off or your bondo cracks, so pay to do it once.

i had a few quarter sized holes on the bottom of my tailgate and i filled it with something called goodstuff its a household expanding foam for filling cracks, then bondo over that. but first sand all of the rust to bare metal. that seemed to work really well. and it was cheap. like a 20$ fix.

illinois, if the rust is that bad on the edges above the doors, chances are the rest of the roof is rusted further in, under the paint. If you're lucky and it's just rotted along the rain gutter, you might be able to cut a patch panel off a donor F-seriies truck or Bronco and weld it in place of the area that you cut out. I had a Z-71 with that same problem, and had a body shop check out the roof. It would have cost several hundred $$$ to cut off the roof and weld on a newer one. Ended up selling it, JSM84
