Here ya go, I scanned in the section of the factory manual that shows where it is & how to swap it out. Included is the info on replacing the heater core & the heat/AC control.

Uhm, I think it's the same firewall assembly but I'll check it in a little bit. I'm still little buzzed after watching the Pats treat the rest of the NFL like the Jr. varsity team for the past 12 games, I'll scan & post teh pages for ya. Apologies to all the Dolphins fans who are going to get hurt in a couple of weeks. Life's rough but I sat thru the 80's when local radio stations handed out brown paper bags w/eye-holes cut in them at all the home games, so excuse me for enjoying it now.

with the 78 bronco having AC dont you have to take the heater motor out from the inside?...i believe its behind the dash im not 100% sure i will check tonight if i go to my shop

U sure ? They all have to bolt into that same hole in the firewall. It should just be a matter of what sort of junk is hung in front of it. Some of those SuperDuty heaters get a little oversize & difficult to see around but there has to be just one location for the blower motor regardless of the heating/cooling options.

i never got a chance to look...its a possibility its in the same place i guess i will just have to pop the whole unit off the firewall on the outside see if i can find it

i put in a new heater core in my bronco last year from the inside.my friends bronco the inside cover we cant git it off to take the a/c core out and the heater core out to see if you can git to it that way

Yup, Ok. Sorry to drag a$$ but I've had domestic issues.

I just sat down & thumbed thru the factory manual & found the section on the Delux Hi-Lo heater which I'm guessing must be what we're talking about if what you have doesn't match what I've already posted. I just took a quick look and yup, there ARE some differences. if you want just shoot me an Email or msg and I'll be happy to scan the pages for you. It's a large section & I hate to dump a bunch of huge scans here that will be of limited use to only a few guys, but I have no prob scanning them & Emailing them directly to you. Conversely, I have no problem posting them here if the Mods don't mind me taking up the bandwidth. Either way, it's a bit late right now to start on a project like that but I'll get to it later in the day (well I guess it's a new day now isn't it) and either way I can send them to you direct or post them, doesn't much matter to me once they're scanned.

I just did this to my 79. First, make sure it isn't an electrical problem. Replaciing the motor sucks, badly. I have a very clean 79 xlt that is easy to work on by most standards and it still sucked. The blower motor is the deepest thing in your inside heater box. I was changing my heater core and replaced the blower motor because I never want to do this again. The whole unit has to come out along with the glove box and most of the interior heater parts. The hole in the firewall looks like you could barnstorm through it. I found taking off the valve cover helped with access. Time will be your friend here. Don't try this after work one night. Good luck
