i was driving my bronco the other day and it was running fine, i jumped on the highway and after about a half mile it just shut off, it didnt sputter it just died out. so i pull off to the side and crank it and it starts back up so i try to go again and it dies. im weirded out cuz itll start up and run but if i try to get up to speed itll just shut off. i had it towed to a shop and its still there, the tech is tellin me he thinks its losing spark when in gets hot, but i was driving it for a good 10-15 minutes before i jumped on the highway and it was fine.

incase someone asks for what i have done to it, to my knowledge its stock except for a set of headers the last owner put on it with glasspacks mounted right at the headers and thats what the exhaust consists off except for maybe 1ft of flex pipe to aim the exhaust to the side. other than that its just got 33's on it.

Please post the year model of the Bronco, and the engine size, to help with answering your post. Could be as simple as a clogged fuel filter, or a failing fuel pump, JSM84

Cool, your 92 has two pumps. One is inside the tank, the other on the driver's-side frame rail. Does the in-tank pump hum or buzz really loud? Some do, and that's OK. When they stop buzzing, they've gone bad or about to. The pumps usually fail without any warning, and you don't have the starting/stalling fits like you describe. But the garage should be able to check both pumps to see if they're putting out proper pressure. There's a few recent posts on similar problems.

My 92 only has one pump. When mine went out it was really loud whirring and I never noticed until I got the new one in. Any decent garage should be able to check the pressure and let you know (but you should look at the filter since you said the previous owner said the pump was new maybe he failed to change it when putting the new pump in) Also when mine went out it was only pumping half the pressure i needed so the truck ran REALLY rough so they can be quirky.

yeah the pump is really loud when i turn the key. the shop has had it since wed. so ima go pick it up 2day from the shop since they havent fixed it yet, i should be able to limp it home since its only about 1.5 miles away lol. ima check the filter, and ima check fuel pressure. this last owner had this truck all jacked up theres vac lines not hooked up, one of the lines commin off the vaper canister isnt hooked up to anything, and it looked like there was a return line not hooked up but it was dark when i saw that so i might be mistaken, he didnt even have the intake tubes on. thanks though guys

Haynes states that beginning 1990 they switched from a dual pump system to a single pump in the tank. Mine is a '90 with a single pump.

If you have a Haynes manual, there is about 4-5 pages of fuel pressure testing that one can do with a pressure guage.

If I recall correctly you should have approx 35 - 45 lbs psi.

To test it use a jumper wire to ground out the fuel pump test on the self test plug.

There is a picture of it in post three of this thread.

I would pull diagnostic codes from your computer.

Here is the thread that will walk you through it.

So to testrun the fuelpumps you just put the cable between Fuel pump test and then you ground it wherever you feel like?
