Hey guys, my name is Erika, and I'm from the new england area, where it likes to suddenly rain two minutes after the sun is shining. My 85' Bronco has a hard top and i usually drive with it off, but when it rains, i'm stuck without a top till i get home...then i usually have to try and put it on myself. I've re-done the intrerior so that when i do get caught in the rain, or when i'm wheelin its not a big deal, but i wondering what i would need to make it a soft top. Obviosly i would need to buy the top, but do i need to buy a mounting kit of some sort? And where can i order it from?

Just type in "Bronco Soft Top" on Google and you will find many offers for a complete kit. They come with everything you need to install them. I got mine from Specialty Top Company about two years ago and am very pleased with it. I cant remember exactly but I think I paid about $600 for it.

STC makes 2 kinds, a snap on top in which the sides roll up, or a fast trac style in which the windows zip out. I have the snap on style and am very happy with it.

All of my install pics are here:

I got it here:

Here's install pics for the fast trac style:

I really like the look with the top and back rolled up. It makes minimal noise at 50+ mph and is not too tough to install, just lots lining up and drilling.

Welcome to Bronco Zone!!! As stated, there really is only one softtop being made now by STC and sold by Jeff's Bronco Graveyard and a few other vendors. Either style reguires drilling holes to mount screws for the rails that the top snaps onto all around the rear tub area. Cost is around $400 new plus shipping. You can also find a used top once a month or so on ebay and other classified ad forums. If you're lucky enough to find one, Skyler Corp. used to make a top that the rails mounted i nthe factory hardtop bolt holes - no drilling required - and used velcro. That costs $600 new, and used ones go for $300-up really fast on ebay. I have pics of the Skyler fastback style top in my susperford.org gallery:

I got my soft top a few months ago from www.soft-tops.com and I love it.

I think that link should work. Its different from the one pictured earlier as it doesn't look like the regular cap but instead just angles down from the cab. It's an interesting look I really like it. The only downside is when its on if someone wants to sit in the backseat they have to scrunch forward sorta but it's not that big of a deal.

They have a variety of colors available and even if it is not in stock will make it and send it out really quickly. I got a tan one for my bronco to match the trim around the bottom.

I really love it because there is no frame or anything to put up just a bunch of turnbuckles/snaps so it goes on and off really quick with no frame left behind. When its off I simply fold the cover up, lift up the back seat and store it under there.
