Gauge Panels Problem

Hello Everyone;

I have a small question regarding the gauge panels. I have changed twice the Constant Voltage Regulator of the gauge panels. Those two times the Gauge Panels work great around 5 minutes and then they stop measuring. If I turn off the bronco and turn it on a few minutes later the same thing happens, the gauge panels work for a few minutes and then they stop.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Hi., welcome....

Hmmm., that is a wonderment...!!

Try using a voltmeter on the 12v input side & see if it's (12v) intermittent or steady for the 5-10 min.

If it's steady....see if the output side is 5-6v steady with a slight flutter, or does it quit.

When you say "changed" the little volt. reg. .....from what to what..?

Meaning "new" ones or used ones..?

Fuzes good., & have good connection..?

Are the gages "*******" or reading normal at the start (i.e. when they do come on).?

Yes, I bought a new volt reg. to replace the old one and all the connections are ok.

I used the voltmeter and everything is just like you said. But I still have the same problem, the gauge panels are having a normal reading when I turn on the engine, but after 5 minutes they stop working...it’s quite weird.

But., you didn't state what happened...????

Aft. 5 min. where did the voltage go away from...? The 12v side or the 5-6v side..?

Have you bought two CVR's so far..? You said you changed it twice.

Sorry for the late answer

After the 5 minutes the voltage go awat from the 5-6v side. This happened with both of the CVR I have bought. Also I noticed that the 12v side it raises around 13.5v, I don't know if that has anything to do.

This is normal (with eng. runn'n)..., just shows the alternator is operating correctly.

I have no clue....unless the CVR's are just NG..!! Where did you get them..?

You can "bench-test" them real easy with a bat. & some alligator clipped wires..& your voltmeter.
