If you had no choice would you run lean or rich on your fuel? What is the pro's and con's of both? Let us all know...

Running lean causes detonation which can cause internal engine damage, like holes in pistons. The bad stories you hear about nitrous is almost always cuased by a lean condition, adding too much fuel is better, just causes bad gas mileage, stinky exhuast, maybe fouled plugs at worst.

Since I rebuilt my motor I haven't gotten a fuel pressure guage to see what I'm set at so I just made it run rich due to the stories about holes in pistons and such. Now when I idle it seems to be missing and anything under about 1800 or so RPM I get the acasional jolt from the hit it's giving me. I don't drive it alot, just to and from work right now since I'm a bit tight on money and that thing gets next to nothing for fuel economy (but I didn't buy it thinking it will be a gas saver). It's also seeming to **** my speedometer when it gives me a good miss? Could it be the tranny, t-case or rear end just making me think it's a miss? I apriciate any ideas and I have to trouble tearing things down to make sure it's good. Thanks in advance!
