Hey there this is my first time posting on this site and I have a question about my fuel system. I have a '73 with a 302 that I just rebuilt and I was wondering why the stock fuel line running from the fuel pump to the carb has what appears to be a return line attached to it? Do I need a return line in between the fuel pump and the carb?

There shouldn't be any kind of return line in there. The stock fuel pump should have 2 ports, an inlet (from the tank) and an outlet (to the carb) and that is it. A side view of it looks like this. But there is no return line on a carbureted Bronco.

a quick look at my buddies '73 and it looks like it has one too. he just bought it and it is all stock. haven't spent the time to trace it out yet, but yes it looks like it has a return line also. not sure what it is.

I'm guessing that's vacuum line for the earlier rigs that had vac. wipers.

If that's the case....prob. best to strap on a cheap filter of sorts to keep crud out of the diaphram.

73 is the only year to have a return line.that is why the main tank sending unit has a extra fitting.

Buckin Bronc may be referring to the fuel lines that run to the charcoal canister that is bolted to the frame on the passenger side of the bromco.
