I just bought a new fuel sending unit for the stock auxiliary fuel cell on my 69 Bronco. I can't seem to figure out how to get the assembly (filter and float) in the tank without taking the float off. What am I missing?

Thanks for any assistance.

Yah., these units are a bit fragile.

They don't like to go straight in so try leaning the flat plate end down on a 45+ deg. angle (with the float on top) & as I recall, slip the float in & follow with the pick-up tube/filter.
