I have a 1983 Bronco II with 2.8l V6, it has a mechanical fuel pump and it's a little too tight to get a standard socket or open end wrench. I even tried grinding down a crows foot. Does anyone know how to remove this pump ? or do you have to take off the power steering pump too?

Dont be afraid to remove items that seriously impead access to a defective part. The inconvience and frustration associated with tring to work around something that is in the way is usually much worse than that of having to remove and reinstall the offending part. Remove the belt and loosen the bolts holding the bracket to the block this may allow enough movement forward to allow access otherwise remove it completely and have easy access.
