If I step to the rear of my truck when the engine is on, I can hear a whinning sound that is constant. Also my gas guage does not work. I was reading the last post about the fuel pump and noticed that BLADES262US says that the pump and the sending unit are together. I was thinking my sending unit was bad therefore my gas guage was not working, could the fuel pump also be going bad and giving that whinning sound? Should I be concerned or not even look into it until I get stuck on the freeway?

Some of the electric, in-tank pumps make quite a racket, but it's generally not a sign of impending failure. It's when the noise stops, you're not going far.

Good, that keeps me under ease for a while. At least till I get tired of counting miles to see how much gas is left in the tank.
