hi folks just bought 78 bronco with 351/400 with 4 speed runs good but i put my foot in it and one of the clamps on the third member broke where the chunk gets held to the third member causing my carrier to break. is there anywhere i could go to get a clamp. and is the detroit locker pretty good to put in to my 9. will it hold up im pretty tough on rearends. i have an 89 bronco with the 8.8 rear and i tore the ring and pinion and the spider gears up. if some one could tell me who makes a diffeential thea want tear up. please help need to get the rear ends back together so that me and my wife can go tear up some trails. and make a splash in some mud. broncoing is the best hobby a man can have. if there is anyone around tenneessee give me a shout and we could go trailriding. thanks hope someone can help me with my rearend trouble.

Welcome to Bronco Zone!!!

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking for onthe F0rd 9', but most gear vendors should have what you need. Same for the Ford 8.8". While the Detroit locker lives up to it's reputation as the best, you might look into a min- or full-spool for the 9". But if you're as ******* axle parts and shafts as I am, you might consider upgrading to 1-ton axles. It took me a long time to find a donor truck, but the SAS was worth it, IMO. JSM84 :D/

thanks for the info on getting a spool but just got back on the computer tonight been trying to get it running right. but i did get a detroit soft locker does real good in the mud. i just have trouble with turning the truck just wants to keep going in a strait line. but as for the locker i am really impressed with it. now i only need one for the front. i went muddin tuesday and my truck started sputtering. so i had to keep putting the gas. so i hauled ass back to the house. had it setting there idiling and it usually run at an idle at 8 to 900 rpms but this time it runs at 1200 and it want hardly run you put it in gear and it like floods out or something. changed plugs, wires, distributer cap, and button. air filter. does anyone have any suggestions. i would really appreciate it. do you think the carburator is about to go out. if so what is a good one to put on it.

it was the bearing cap the clamp that holds the chunk to the third member but a friend of mine let me have his old third member so i robbed the clamps off of it.

workin on getting pics hope to take some tomorrow.
