my 86 bronco has a crack in the fan shroud  and im gonna take it off and JB the crack up so it will stop cracking.

my only question is if i take it off to fix it can i still drive the truck with shroud off and not have it over heat. because i know the shroud helps with cooling but ive seen trucks with out them.

(btw my truck has a 351 windsor in it)

help?

It's February in Colorado & you're wondering if your truck will overheat if you go without the fan shroud for a couple days :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I wouldn't worry about it. The shrouds DO help w/cooling but at this time of year in your part of the country I wouldn't give it a second thought. Keep your eye on the temp gauge to reassure yourself but I honestly can't imagine there being a problem with it. You're not towing or plowing with it are you ? If you're doing something other than just daily driving then maybe but for normal driving I wouldn't worry. Take it for a quick ride after you get if off just to get yourself a baseline to compare it to where it *used* to run w/the shroud on, I don't think you'll see much difference

Well, I run an electric fan and it hasn't been on for more than a total of 5 minutes since December. You will be just fine.

Good luck,

:)>-

Last winter my fan clutch went, no the spindle did the damn fan fell off on the highway. Ran with out the fan for about 4 months was ok except for long stop lights. With out a shroud you will be fine, forever if needed.
