My 67 sport is 99% original. It is pebble beige in color. If I wanted to recreate a factory rig but wanted to change the color, would it hurt the point value? If so how much? I don't like the beige much.

Well..., if you have a green rig.., & a tan eng. compartment, etc. ......won't look all that bad, but not orig.

Lot-o-work to change color & do it right.

Having said that, don't see any value change,,,,,,unless you do metal-flake, etc. :-&

Thank you for responding Bully. Changing engine bay is not an issue. I am mapping out a frame off resto and am checking options. My VIN tag says it is a pebble beige. I am just wondering how nitpicky rig buyers are vs say a ferrari owner. The ferrari owner would rather the car be "all original" rather than a different factory color. This is an uncut vehicle. I don't like the beige, but do like the green. If I produced a job like the "Overhaulin" rig in holly green rather than pebble beige would you be wanting to ding me on the value because it wasn't all original. How difficult it is to do the change is not at issue. I have the facilities to accomplish that. I am at the research level right now. I would like to produce the best frame off possible. But I really have no love for the beige. Can you tell?LOL

i dont think a color change would hurt at all! what does matter is no sheet metal changes ie.cut wheel wells lift kits any thing that did not come from factory.if that color was offerd from fact.as option not to worry.if they are worried about it who ever you sell it to can change it just like you did..just my opinion.

BTW I am not going to sell it. Just wondering whether to put it back to "stock" or make it "factory". I own a body shop, so doing the work is not at issue. I am just wondering if when done with resto, will spectators at "the goodguys" auto show be let down by my not keeping it all original.

That depends on how much of a competition truck you want to make. I know back in the late 80s when my dad was into car shows, the top end judges would look at VIN #s to see if the colors matched. Some judges were picky enough to want original type wiring reinstalled. If you want to go to that extreme, then yes, changing color will hurt it. If you just want a nice show truck, then no it won't.

Thats what I am asking S bolt. How many broncos do you see at a concourse? Perhaps that is the proper question to ask.

Haha...I have never seen a concourse EB. ****, even the few that rolled across Barret-Jackson in the past year haven't been THAT nice. Personally, a nicely restored vehicle, EB or what ever, to me doesn't necessarily have to have matching VIN & color. If the paint & body are done correctly, then why fuss over a number. I know of many a show car that was more valuable in my eyes because I liked the color rather than the concourse car sitting next to it. It's all relevent to you and what flavor of ice cream you like.

Holly green it is then. Too many blue ones out there. Not enough green. Number matching motor and frame. OEM less paint color. Now that this headache is solved its back to getting her to run. Thanks for the input everyone.

Man, that almost looks like a model car. I love those old 'vettes. That is pretty sweet.
