So you have to have a different intake plate to put an edelbrock or any 4Barrel where a 2 barrel was?
I know.. I ask dumb questions. but I am not a mechanic.... I just want to learn.
If you have a 2bbl intake and you want to use a 4bbl carb you can buy an adapter. Looks just like a carb spacer, and it is reversable in case you want to go the other way

Ok.. so another dumb question (or two)
What gains would I see by putting on a 4bbl with an adapter plate vs a 4bbl with a new intake?

OR what gains would I see with the 4bbl besides decreased gas mileage?

Sorry.. not meaning to hijack a thread.
Maybe you could start a thread and ask this question again, your gonna get answers flying all over the place.

Thats the thing I lost all pics from before I took my old carb off, and am trying to figure out how everything gets run and plugged up.
You need a big vaccum like the one in the picture for your brakes, then a small one off the carb for the vaccum advance. One with no suction at idle then sucks as you throttle it. Your carb instructions should tell you which port for that. Then you need a line for the tranny. Which usually branches off the large one at the rear for your brakes. You also need a large one for you pcv valve

Did you old carb have a large vaccum line on it? or was there a plate under it with a vaccum line?

Both Schroder's 84 and Matt-V please open a new thread with your questions. Do not hijack a thread for someone else. I will be deleting the non-relevant posts.

Sorry Shroder's 84, just realized that you are Brett. Still goes for Matt_V though.

Yeah, my bad for not using Brett's username in the starter post (now edited). We've been chatting and conversing back & forth on his particular set-up, but I like to put topics like this out in the forums. We're trying to first of all ID the intake, then install a new carb (EDL 1406) and lastly get it hooked up. As yardape stated, Edelbrock has the parts needed to mate the 1400 series carbs to either the stock 351W intake or their own brand in the Ford trucks. Since the 84 Bronco of Brett's has the C6 auto, one of the kits needed is to adapt the tranny kickdown rod to the new carb. The other kit needed is to dapt the throttle cable coming from the gas pedal. Aside from these two items, the rest of the install is simple, and depends on what vacuum-operated items you need to run liek the brake booster and distributor advance. Since the EDL PErformer intake only has one port for the vacuum switch, you'll either need to tee off the line to your brake booster to run other items like crusie control. The good thing about Edelbrock is they have some instructions on their website, as well as a 1-800 tech help line. I may have posted the number in a recent thread, but if not I'll look for it. Or someone can post it if they have it at hand.

If he needs a vacuum tree with more than one port, I believe I have a couple in the garage. Be glad to mail one out.
