Hey everyone...

I'm a newbie here, but I just bought my first bronco last weekend. It's a 69 in fairly decent shape aside from the typical death wobble and clutch chatter. The engine is solid with no smoke but it's still going to need a lot of TLC to get back into primo shape. I wasn't quite ready to buy one, but the price was just too good to pass up for the nearly no rust body.

Anyway, I've been looking for a service manual. So far, I've only found the Chilton's and the original Ford Service Manual. Which would be the best to have? I plan to do a full restore over time, and would love to have something to follow. I havent found any good restoration books, so advice there would be great as well. If any of you know where I can find a free scanned version of a manual, that would be even better.

I look forward to learning more about the EB's from y'all. The forum has been a wealth of knowledge in just this week alone.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Jason

Welcome to the board & to the world of EBs. It becomes an addiction real fast. Looks like you have a nice starting point there. Lots of potential. What are you looking to do with it? Complete resto or a strong wheeling build up?

As far as manuals go, if you can get both for a decent price, neither would hurt to have. For that matter any manual you can find that covers Broncos from early 70's will work for you too. I haven't seen any that actually cover the EB years.

Your death wobble could be caused by bad ball joints and/or a bad steering stabilizer. It really wouldn't hurt to replace all of them. Clutch chatter could be it just needs some adjustment.

Again welcome and don't be afraid to post up any questions ya come up with.

The factory manual rocks.... especially if you are lucky enough to get the wiring supplement.

The Chiltons manual is most common, but if you can find a Clymer manual, you will be good to go.

Thanks for all the replies. The pages/links were very helpful. It looks like I may just order the Ford Factory Service Manual CD. I found it for 38 bucks and then I guess I could just print the pages I need. I also found the Chilton's manual today for 3 bucks.

As for what I'm planning to do...I hope to make it an everyday driver (capable) with the option of off-roading just like any 4x4 out there today. I am realizing more and more every day that it's going to be harder than I thought. Just this weekend I sheared off 2 rusted bolts. I'm headed to Sears right after work for some bolt extractors. After that....it's going to be a slow process.

Thanks again for all the help!
