I have a 1967 bronco and am planning to install a james duff long travel suspension, nv 3550, and a 2" body lift. I would really like to get something stronger to replace my dana 30 and small bearing 9in rear end. Ive talked to currie about having them build one but its way to expensive for me right now since that cash is tight. I would like to install a full width front and rear end since this seems to be the cheapest, strongest, and easiest to find swap. does any one have any recomendations? will my tires stick out way to far? what trucks (model and year) are the best to pull the parts from? what modifications will i need to do to make these fit in my EB, will this be a big pain? I really need help with this I only know a little about front and rear ends and what is best. thanks :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

is it wise to find a built front and rear end from someone else? or should i scour the junk yards and do it myself? how do i check the straightness and condition of the housings and components?

What eng...?

The 9" is tough but can be made a bit tougher.

The D-44 can also be built up. It is a bolt-in swap for both. (9" large bearing, & D-44)

Axles, Posi, lockers, etc. come in to play now as well......depends on what your intentions are... "Pit racer" -or- all the way up to"rocker"...? B)

it has a rebuilt 69' 351 windsor with edelbrock intake cam and carb. full width front and rear ends will bolt directly in? i thought c-bushing and spring cups had to be moved.

Any '66-'77 Bronco large bearing 9" rear axle is "full width" & will "bolt in"

D-44's swap right in as far as I know. C-bush. have to be changed according to your lift height. (not moved) Spring cups have to be removed to get it all apart.

Get a Wild Horses catalog.....they have a great section/explaination on choosing axles to match your eng., dr. train, & intentions.

OOPS...!! |-) I see, you're talking some later model full size truck. Whole diff. story. S'BT :-B

If you plan of going full width you can get hummer rims or find some with a deep back set so the tires stays close to the fender opening.

The problem now is the hub will stick out getting hung up on rocks & trees. You might be able to get a happy medium rim that keeps the hub flush with the tire. You will need an adj. trac bar and adj drag link.

I haven't done the full width yet but I do think the ears (c-bushing) on the D44 are off slightly but you might get away with keeping them in same location with the adjustable bars. A full width D44 is 6" wider than stock. Most cut the tube on the pass side 6", reweld in and center the axle with a adj. trac bar and drag link. This gets it back to stock width. Then you would need to get the axle shafts cut down and resplined to get them to fit. Thats what did. Driverside axle shaft is only 1/2" longer so anyone can cut a bit of the ends off.

The rear 9" I would also think is wider in the leaf spring perches. I'll have to do some measuring get get back to you..
