can someone give me a run down on how to diagnose this? I would hate to be driving around and blow the radiator.

Pull the R/Wh wire straight off the sender & ground it to the block, intake, or head. Then turn the key to RUN. If the needle pegs, replace the sender. If not, diagnose the circuit. Also, read this caption:
If you put some specs in a signature, I could give you more info: year, trim level, engine, trans, miles, & mods are good to include. An avatar of the truck is also useful.
