Coil - External Resistor

Can anyone please tell me where the external coil resistor is located. 1970, 302 engine, mostly stock.

Never mind - found it, it's the pink wire (resistor wire) which runs through the firewall up to the ignition switch. Now I need to figure out how to by-pass it so I can install a new coil (Pertronix "Flame Thrower") which recommends removing any external resistor for full performance. Has anyone run with this coil and not removed the resistor wire - and does it make a difference with or without the resistor?
