Anybody ever do a CB roof mount before or know what is involved with it? I got my new CB setup for christmas and there isn't enough room under the dash for my new radio. I think iam gonna go to the local CB shop and find out but until then i was wondering if anybody knew about how much it would cost and what it would involve.

I mounted my CB under the dash right in front of the transfer case shifter. Easy to get to, out of the way. Thought about putting mine over head but I have a sun roof so I had no room. Plus someting about hard metal objects close over my head didn't thrill me. I have also seen them installed on the front of the center console (if you have one). As for the antenna, I installed mine on my spare tire rack. Out of the way, and I still get good reception.

I agree with Ziggy,if you doin any kind of offroadin under the dash is the best place to put a cb.I'd rather stay concious and not get knocked in the head by a cb.

In a previous 77' F150 I mounted the cb under the dash between the shifters. Ya that's right it had a four speed and there was still enough room and it was a fairly large unit. B)

I have a buddy who drives a c@#$y. His was mounted to the roof and every time he hit a bump. The darn mike came off and wacked someone in the head. chevy drivers just dont think things though till a bad idea beats them in the head a dozen or so times.

DEFINATLY DO NOT DO THE ROOF MOUNT!!! Been there done that did not enjoy it. I have a BII and had enough room to mount it in front of the shifter. Besides in some states it is illegal to have anything obstructing your view thru the windsheild and yes some %^$#@ do push the issue! even though its just the cord hanging down.

Thanks, i got it mounted, i put it under the dash a little to the right of the transfer case and it looks good. Thanks for the input though, now i just hafta wire it up. Dad works at ford so he made my antenna bracket. I'll get some pics up when its done. Any ideas on where to run the coax to get it to the back left corner of the bed? i was thinkin run it out the plugs behind the seat and use some of this tape stuff i got with it and running it down the frame rails.

Ran my cable under the floor mat down along the rear passanger side behind the panel and out through the top R/H corner of where the tail gate meets cap.
