On my 68 EB 289, my gas mileage really went down the tank. So I rebuilt the carb and it was really good for a couple of weeks, and now back ultra bad again. I've checked the vacuum lines, checked the mounting bolts. What gives? Any ideas ?

Have you done a tune up? Cap, rotor, wires and plugs?

Yep. Did the whole tune up thing. I was kind of hoping that there was some carb trick when rebuilding them that I need to know. Hey thanks for replying.

The best carb trick I know, switch to fuel injection!

Make sure that the carb is not leaking (sucking air) at the intake (where the carb bolts to the intake).
