bronco wont start

Ive been pretty busy lately unfortunately it came back to get me, the bronco wont start. Battery is good, i can tell it is getting plenty of juice. i guess what im asking is i am pretty sure that it is either the starter or the starter solenoid. i can hear the battery giving juice and can hear the "scratching" of one of the two, im just unsure which one to go and replace first. anyone?

I agree, before replacing anything check all of your connections. Remember that most auto parts stores will check a starter or alternator for free. A relay is cheaper than a starter!!! Also make sure the relay is nice and tight to the fenderwell, Mine has vibrated loose before and given me problems, I finally took out those little sheet metal screws and put a set of 5/16 studs in.

A quick check is to "jump" or bypass the solenoid with a ***** driver. You just take a beefy ***** driver and connect the two posts. If it starts then your problem is the solenoid, if it doesn't start then your problem is the starter (have ignition turned on).

If you do end up replacing the solenoid then I would recommend getting a motorcraft one. When I replaced it on my 96 I purchased a value brand at first but it required me to split cables further so it would fit around an extra post. Took it back and the motorcraft fit just like the orignal.
