I have a 76 bronco that has undergone a total frame off restoration. It has a 3.5 inch quad shock lift kit and all the other goodies one could imagine. I left the quarters uncut since it only has 37000 miles on it when I tore it down and it was basically rust free if there is such a thing. I have one problem that I need some help solving. It leans to the left ! There is about an inch difference between the height of the drivers side and passenger side.

I found one article a long time ago that dealt with this issue but its no longer available. Evidently this was a very common issue with these vehicles. I thought about putting a spacer between the spring perch and the spring on the left rear to shim it up and make it level side to side. Everything else matches up perfectly on this vehicle other than the whole thing is tilted to the left about an inch.

Does anyone out there know of a fix for this problem?

Typically it isn't the rear end that is out of level, it is the front. But, you have the typical "Bronco Lean" that is caused by the front "C" bushings not seating correctly. Ya aren't gonna like it, but to fix it, you have to loosen the front radius arms and tighten them up again. Possibly even have to take them off and make sure the bushings are installed correctly. There is a front and rear on them and if they are in backwards, it will throw things off. Anyway, loosen them up along with the bushing at the back of the radius arm. You don't have to completely remove these, just make sure they are loose so that there can be some play in them (there is also for these bushings, a front & back, or inner/outter if you like). When you go to retighten the "C" bushings, just do a little at a time. One corner then the opposite (i.e. on the driver side, do the top right then bottom left, top left then bottom right). Don't get them completely tight right away, but get them snug, then do the other radius arm. Once everything is the same, then tighten it all up together using the same "X" tightening pattern. Last, tighten the end bushings at the back of the radius arms. If this doesn't solve it, you probably need to remove them, make sure all bushings are on correct and then do that process all over. More a pain in the a$$ than anything.

I had the same leaning problem after installing my 3 1/2" lift with dual shocks. I put off fixing it and I got lucky. After a couple of months, things must have shifted and settled because now the lean is gone! You might wait to tear into it, but I doubt you'll get as lucky as I did.

For more information on the "Bronco Lean" check out this website: http://www.azbronco.org/tech12.htm

It will give you information on how to tell if the radius arms are causing your problem. Hope it helps.

Good Luck

I had the same problem and posted the same question a few months ago. Apparently when you do the lift in the front, if you tighten the
