Brand New Bronco Owner

Hello Bronco enthusiasts. I have recently fallen into a '69 Bronco project and am seeking the advice of those who have gone before me to avoid most of the newbie mistakes. I have always wanted a classic bronco to drive around the desert and am looking to have a reliable vehicle I can jump in and go off roading in. I don't need anything too extreme yet as I've never been rock crawling or even off roading before. I restored a '68 Mustang when I was 16 and after 5 years and a lot of cuts and bruises to my ego and wallet I realize the value of advice from others. That being said I am going to upload a few photos of the vehicle that I will have in my possesion shortly and maybe one of my mustang to show off a bit. I would love any and all advice however kind or brutal it may be. Let me know the first things you would do to it, the best ways to go about restoring it, the coolest and best end product I can end up with. Anything you have to give me I would more than appreciate. Thanks in advance and let the games begin.

Welcome to the board & to the world of EBs. You have a lot of potential there. My first question is what do you want to do with the thing? Where do you want this Bronco to be in 5 years? Do you want it to be a rock crawler that you can take up Golden Spike in Moab or just your everyday loggin' road? What you want will determine where you go. I would also recommend to sit down and make a list of the things you want to do with it. Stick to that list and don't vary too much or you will spend waaay more than you ever intend to /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Answer those first and then it is just a matter of time & money (just like your 'Stang was, I am sure)

I agree with S bolt.

Go through the truck and perform a very thorough inspection, note any and everything that needs repaired or replaced.

Make your wish list... roll cage, power brakes, disc brakes, power steering, V-8, tire size etc...

compare the two lists making sure that any thing you want to do only needs to be done once, for example, if you need a brake job now, but are wanting to add disc brakes, do the brake swap first, then you're only doing it once...

I know it can be frustrating wanting to just go and drive (from the pics it appears the rig should be a fairly solid base to start from) but doing the job once will save you time and lots of money in the end.
