well, any "boss" engine from ford is a cleveland engine. it has better internals, MUCH larger ports and valves, and different intakes. they're built to last a lot longer. there is also 2 different types of boss engines. there's the 2V and 4V types, 4V being bigger intake ports. in the interest of getting it done, you should just buy the boss 302. buying a regular 302 and installing 351 boss heads could be much more expensive, and the heads will most likely not fit. besides, an engine with original heads could be trusted more than an engine with heads off some other engine......

The BOSS 302 is no more than a 302 fitted with a set of 351C heads and they were only 4V heads . The valves are huge and not suited to make the low end torque for a truck . Any of the 351M , 351C , 400 , 289 , 302 . 351W heads will sit on the block and yes even bolt down and before you say no it wont go try it they share the same pattern . As for just bolting on and running thats would be a no . Can it be done yes . You have to drill a hole in the block for the water passage in the cleveland heads . And an original 302 BOSS intake will be needed but finding one will be close to impossible so theres an aftermarket company that makes them but there around $600 ( cant remember there name right now but do a search and youll find it ) . Some guys were putting the cleveland heads on a 351W and calling it a 351 Clevor ( search that ) Again it takes a special intake . ( one other thing the cylinder tops will have to be clearanced for the valves . A true 302 BOSS is very hard to find and if the seller knows what they have yull have to mortgage your house to get it . The motor is identifiable but the cleveland heads sitting on top of it ( same head as 351M and 400 in 2V form , 4V 351C is all on its own special intake and all . ) The freeze plugs will be a ***** in type like a big pipes plug and the casting date on the block will be a C9 or a D0 that being because it was only produced in 1969 and 1970 . There was a BOSS 351C in the 71 through 74 351C but it is not much more than a name plate . Do a search theres tons of info on these motors I dont know how many " BOSS " 302 Ive gone to look at that someone was selling only to find that its just a regular 1 of a billion 302 that someones friend told them it was a BOSS . I would rethink your choice of building or useing one of these motors in your project 1 being the size of the valves and lack of low end and 2 have you ever seen the size of the exhaust ports on a 4V 351C head there HUGE along with the headers to go with them youll have a very hard time fitting exhaust in your B2 just as I did with the 351W . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
