Okay,

If any of you looked at the motor swap topic I started a while ago...you will understand where I am coming from.

It was suggested to me by a senior member/moderator to get a rering kit to fix some blowby.

Any thoughts?

Any other solutions to blowby?

Also, does anybody have suggestions on any good rering kits to get without breaking the bank? And where from? I have looked at a few on ebay...not too sure about them though...I am looking for advice from well seasones people like you guys.

Thanks for checking this out.

PS How long does to take to rebuild the motor with the rering kit? And what id the level of difficulty?

I haven't read you're other post yet (but I will), but I've done a coulple of re-ring jobs on motors before. Normally, when you overhaul a motor, you have a machine shop bore out the cylinders 0.030" to get rid of scratches and worn spots that are causing the blow-by on the rings. If you just replace the rings, without boring out the cylinders, you likely will still have some blowby. At the least, you should use a honing tool to remove some of the scratches, and remove the lip at the top of the cylinder. The lip is from wear right above the top ring. IF you leave this lip unattended, it's possible to break the top ring the first time you fire up the motor. JSM84
