Battery Dies

I am new to the forum so please forgive me ahead of time when i ask dumb questions! But i have just purchased a '72 with a 302, 3 spd that was moved from the tree to the floor. drives good but has a LEAN to the left when parked obviously i have no clue if it looks like it when i drive it but how do i solve that? and 2nd the battery just freaking dies as if something was left on inside of the thing, i have replaced the battery with a new one replace the solenoid, i can't freaking figure it out to save my A@@, it takes like 5 hrs for the battery to drain and once drained well you know, had everything tested proper cranking amps, the starter (they said) was good, altenator checks fine, i just have no idea where to go next? thanks again and i am sure i will be back again and again asking questions

Can't be 100 % sure, but you probably have a high resistance short. Check the condition of all wires that either pass through metal or where they are laying on a metal surface like the frame.

You can make yourself a tester out of a 12 V bulb and socket. Then remove the wires connected to the battery side of the start relay, hook one lead to the battery (+) and then hook the other end to the leads that you removed, one at a time. If the bulb lights up you have it narrowed down to the failing circuit.

Another (quick) test is., in the dark if poss.., un-clamp the neg. cable..then "tap" it on & off the neg. bat. post. If you see & hear lil' sparks....something is on &/or there's a short as Seabronc stated.

With respect to future posts for help...not a prob. but it would serve you well to fill-in your signature page on this board with anything & everything you know about your Bronco to this point. What's there., what isn't there., what's been changed., etc., etc.

That way ea. time you post., folks here will know what they're dealing with. (As you see below., in "blue")

On to your lean.....take & note some measurments for comparison. Points like left & right point where bumper meets the frame (front & rear) Same with a few other points on the frame underneath the rig.

Then., do the same with several points on the body...front headlights., rear tail lights, etc.

This will help determine it there's some spring problems., body mount problems., etc. & here's where we need to know if stock or lifted.

Check tire press., are tires all the same..?? Is it leaning on one corner., or both corners on left side.

Might take a few posts but folks here will walk you thru it. And., its all correctable... ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Thanks for the insight, i have been disconnecting the pos side battery cable to keep it from the dreaded drain but will try both and see if either works i did go out and by some new wire i hope 14 gage works and i am in the process of slow but sure figure the doggone thing out! also the person i bought it from installed a "newer" stereo system and the face is gone so maybe just maybe its on all the damn time! but once again i can't figure out how he wired the thing so afraid to disconnect it as it might affect other things! and i will post some pics of the "Lean" machine its not 2 bad just noticeable when i am parked in my garage and on level surfaces

another way to do it would be to disconnect the positive cable with everything off, hook up a multimeter set on DC amps. If you have more than a couple milliamps, start pulling fuses one by one. When you find the one with the biggest amperage drop when pulled, that is the trouble circuit.
