I was wondering if all E.B. axle housings from 1966-1977 are the same length. I understand that the axle shafts are different lengths for different years. So does the overall width change. Do the tires sit wider apart for different years. Thanks in advance.

The diff housing widths do not change.

There is a heavy duty housing for the late 76 and 77.

The differences in axles are

small bearing (early)

large bearing (late)

The different axle "lengths" are due in part to different thickness of the axle ****** necessary for the wider/larger brake drums.

10" drums , 11x 1.75" or 11x 2.5" drums.

The overall track width of the rear diff changes very little with a later diff.
