'76 Bronco - Front auxillary gas tank traps. How do you get them off / on? The j-bolts are obvious, but how do you get the other end (T-slot) of / on?

There is a bracket that is bolted on to the body that sorta covers over the front end of the straps. It is held on with two bolts, and it holds the straps in as well as supports the front of the tank. Take those two bolts out and the bracket should come off. Then the straps will come out of their T-slots. Pay attention, the straps are two different lengths. They need to go back into the same place that you took them out of or the J-bolts will be the wrong length. (one to long, one too short)

Once the tank is off you have to twist them out of the T. Get the mud thats packed in there out and you will see it.
