I run Hella. They are a great light. I put a total of 3 (my preference) two that aim to the side and forward, and one center aimed straight ahead. They light up the road and ditches very well.

Just my $.02.

To be frank they're both good lights and so are most of the others. Probably the most important thing to do is make sure you use a relay instead of just running them direct off the battery thru a switch as I've seen *countless* other guys do it (and then they wonder why they draw so much voltage). Some guys may smirk but I've gotten good lights from JC Whitney & Harbor Freight. I prefer cheapo brand-x lights for rock lights or if they're being mounted anyplace where a rock or branch can reach them. I don't mind nearly as much when I crush a $17 light as I do when I crush a $60 light. When the chrome gets pitted & rusty I wire-wheel them & hit'em with either epoxy paint or stove/grill paint it's durable as heck and rinses off just fine w/the pressure washer. But then again I'm not a show-truck kinda guy, when the rust gets too bad I get me a sheet of aluminum & a few dozen pop-rivets then tape it up for a primer-cammo job. But that's just me.

I agree, the rock lights I have are from yard sales or other trucks that I have dismantled. You cant see the fancy paint job that I put on mine after I wire wheeled them and cleaned them up because they are hidden but I know they are done. I also agree that you should use a relay when wiring. I have mine set up to actuate with my high beams of the original switch but are powered through the relay...
