I have read all about how you either have to pump out the fluid through the fill hole or pull the axles and the pumkin to get the fluid changed. In taking it to the oil change place they only got about 2 pints of old fluid out by evidence that they only put 2 pints back in. Do I have a bunch of guys that don't know what they are doing or is that about what I can expect to get for the pump option? Second with a change of only 2 of 9 pints in the rear end should I change the fluid again every so often to get a complete change over time? I do not have the ablity now to pull it apart for the complete change.

what i did with mine was gpt a suctiongun and pumped out as much as i could, go to a store and get a small tubed syphon hand pump and get it as far down to the bottom o the inside of the rear as u can, it worked well for me, give that a try
Hi I had a 69 Vette that I needed to change the rearend juice in. I drilled a 3/16 hole in the bottom, barely braking through the houseing, tapped the hole. To get the juice out faster I blew air in through the fill plug. I put thread sealer on the bolt to plug it up. Did this so as to not have to remaove the rear spring. BUT this might not work if you go rock crawling. Might tear the bolt out. I haven't tried it on my 67 Bronco yet. I tried the sucksion gun but didn't get very much out, plus I needed to cleen out my posi plates. Hope this helps.

yeah i use a suction gun i bought at auto zone and just **** as much of the axle fluid out as i can then i top it off with just as much

The suction gun isn't gunna get the heavy metal fragments out.
I drilled and tapped the bottom and used a 1/2" drain plug so its large enough to allow crap to get out. The plug was thin so it could be installed flush with the bottom. The allen hole is recessed and will get packed full of dirt. I did smash it on a rock some how but I got it out. I've seen some add a small round tube around it to protect it like some do with wheel valve stems. This will of course get hung up on the trail but its an idea.

good point never thought that there would be big fragments of metal , but it does get most of the little stuff out , but the little stuff dosent do the harm that big fragments do i would do the 1/2 drill hole
