Hey ford truckman, as i remember it... there should be a stud or '' pivot '' bolt on the top side of the alternator. I think that poivot bolt is located in the head or nearby the head with a pretty substantial lenght spacer. then there is the ''bananna'' tensioner bracket that should attatch through one of the water pump bolts also containing a spacer. ( much smaller than the pivot bolt spacer ) I will be back home in a few days when I can take a pic. and show you what I am seeing so you can finish the alternator install. I also believe that both bolts are 1/2'' sockets to set the bolts tight. you'll also need a pry bar or a sturdy small diameter pipe to apply the correct tension to the belt. you should have about 3/4'' of total play in the center of the belts longest span.I'll get back to you soon with pics..

good luck!

i have seen two pictures of the top so far. the bolt with the spacer goes on to. not like i excpeted it. that was part of the problem i had. as far as the adjuster bracket mine is with the timing pointer botl. the bottom one. but that i am sure can be moved as needed. i was just mixed up as the previous owner had the long bolt and spacer below the head like a Fe enigne would have it. with a home made bracket and the adjust in the same place it is now. i think i have it. except my spacer is from a 302. so i will need some washers. if you want to post a pic. that would be fine by me. i will look at it. thanks craig.

more problems. the long bolt i have is too short. the adjuster bracket seems to maybe be from a thunderbird 460. but i think it will work. if i put the adjuster rbacket on the top stud botl of the timing pointer. plus i dont have the correct lenght spacer but washers will do lots to help that out. what i heed to know for sure is where does the lower adjuster bracket bolt to exactly.
