My first thought would be a bad voltage regulator. I might be wrong but it should be on your pass fender well. Unless it is an internal VR then you would need a new Alternator.

Your reply sounds right to me ShadowD . Be a good time to go to a higher amperage unit from like a lincoln Mark IIV or so :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Do you have a meter available & can you tell us what the reading is across the battery terminals when the *engine is running* and at idle ? Might be the regulator, the alternator itself or even something as foolish as a loose belt. Knowing what sort of voltage the battery is actually seeing will help.

Does this happen when you are setting in Neutral or Park? If so, at what RPM does it start putting out a normal 13.5 Volts? It is most likely one of the three things previously mentioned. Most alternators start putting out at around 1000 alternator RPM, (the pulley ratio is around 2.5 to 1). It is possible that if your in gear idle is low and/or your alternator/regulator is weak you might not be putting out at all and what you read is the battery voltage.

Good luck,

:)>-
