I've got a '67 with no lift and I'm puttting new 31s on it. I drive more on the highway than offroad but want a good performing long lasting all terrain tire that won't compromise fuel economy much. I was looking at BF Goodrich AT KOs but have been told that they wear fast and don't perform as well or the same as some significantly cheaper tires. Any suggestions?

The BFg's A/T's are the way to go. The reason they wear faster than other is they have soft tread and flex more. This makes for more traction and are quieter on pavement. Most other mfg's use a harder rubber which gives more milage but less traction. I'd rather have the traction.

I did look at the Big O' Tire A/T's. The tread design looked awesome for on and off road. Seemed like a good happy medium but I went with the BFG's for the traction on my F350. Long bed rigs need all the traction they can get in the rear.

BFGs are the best all around tire that is offered! i have run them on everything i owned. i average anywhere from 45-50k per set of on/offroad driving. they are not real noisy on the road and perform great offroad. i would recommend the a/t to anyone. if more offroading than on, then i would say the m/t. but for both and good mileage i would say the a/t is the top. they do cost a lil more than the other but will pay for itself in the long run. hope this helps.

Thanks for the help guys. It seems almost everyone recommends the BFGs. I'm going to go ahead and get them next week after I get back in town from a trip. A local tire shop here has them on sale right now--mount, balance, stems, environmental, and tax all for $580. Everyone else has given me quotes at $680. Sounds like a decent deal to me. I'll let y'all know how I like them.

I have had the BFG A/T's also but have found they wear not as good as the new **** Cepek Fun Country II's. I have 315's on my F350 crew and am extremely happy with the wear and traction on snow. They clean out pretty well in mud and are fantastic in the sand!

They are the same money if not a little bit cheaper than the BFG A/T and look alot better too!

Will,

One mor point...the BFG's are "3PLY" sidewall.....none of the others have that. BFG also has a "cheaper" look-a-like that's only a 2 ply.

:)>- I had a bad experience with BFG's,I had a defective tire one weak old, form a bubble on the sidewall,I could forgive that ,but Goodrich would not do a thing but blame me.I gave the other 3 away, and Ive been running Goodyear mtr s since, been very happy with them, from highway, they balance well,to Moab,to mud.
