Mine was doing that when the clockspring went bad. The horn and cruise control also did not work. The clockspring is the unit just under the steering wheel that facilitates all the electrical connections to the steering wheel switches and horn. It is about a $40 part available at AutoZone and online instructions for free.

If you get into the stearing column don't use a test light on the airbag wires, from what I've been told that little ground will deploy those little SOB's and they're some nasty things. I've been told to use an OHM meter... Just for safetys sake...

yo,

44: RH Front Air Bag Sensor and Bracket Not Mounted to Vehicle Properly

Testing, Diagram, Codes, etc by Steve

The LH and RH primary crash sensors are hard wired to the air bag; therefore, the LH and RH primary crash sensors and RH safing sensor and bracket sensor determine when to deploy the air bag.

Each diagnostic trouble code (a series of flashes and pauses of the air bag indicator) represents a two-digit number. Each diagnostic trouble code is always displayed at least twice. For example, a diagnostic trouble code 32 is displayed as three flashes, followed by a one-second pause, then two flashes, followed by a three-second pause.

The sensors are located in the vehicle in several places. A primary crash sensor and bracket are located on the left and right front radiator supports. by Chilton via AZ

Check wiring there, etc.

BE CAREFUL.............. All component replacement must be done with the negative battery cable disconnected for as minimum of one minute before service or replacement is attempted.

looks like this, seller calls it a "side"...

No joke there. I have a friend who actually suffered a broken neck doing this. If it weren't a serious issue I'd make fun of the fact that he was working on a Dodge but the fact is that he was goofing around in his column w/a multimeter & fired off the airbag which in turn fractured his neck & he spent 9mo wearing a halo. Do yourself & your family a favor & disconnect that battery before screwing around with it.
