age finally catches up

well today i found out why my 89 was making noises. its a really high pitched screech almost like the bearing in the idler tension pulley gone bad. well turns out that was bad too so i replaced it and that didnt take away the majority of the noise. after a closer look the radiator support has a perfect crack that runs parallel with the frame if you were satding in front of the truck. its right next to the first rubber body mount on the passenger side. since its a perfect straight thru break any bump or even runnin at a certain speed or rpm makes the 2 pieces rub one another making the screech noise. o joy for me i get to buy a new support

i reckon. i love my truck to death but im not going to lie sometimes after all the work i put into it and something still goes wrong it gets so frustrating i just want to blow it all to ****. the old rag in the gas cap trick

Haha, its a love hate relationship. Ever thought of updating to the new style front end? Now would be a good time. Then your not "fixing" your "upgrading" Haha. I did it to mine and I love it.

I know the feeling. You get done fixing one thing then your feel satisfied that all is well and either something goes wrong or you notice something that is about to go wrong. Then you find yourself working on it again the very next weekend rather than fishing like you had orginally planned.

the upgraded front end isnt a bad idea. i like the idea of clear euro lens headlights. cant get them for my front end stlye. how hard is a frontend upgrade? it should be be pretty straight forward from what i can tell. all the new fenders and hood should bolt right up without any mods right?

The cowl is different too. You will need hood, fenders, rad support. Front bumper, grill, headlights. Also you will need what I think they call a header panel, it goes across the front of the rad support behind the headlights and grill. And a new stone deflector (the sheet metal below the headlights and grill above the bumper) Its not hard to do at all just unbolting parts and bolting new ones on.

yea thats what i figured. i just didnt want to go into listing all the body parts like hoods cowls and all that wondering if they would fit

ok so it gets better. apparently the fu#% up fairy is riding that black rain cloud that brings despair and shes hovering over my truck. so i get the parts ordered to replace the broken core support and something else goes wrong. get this....... while driving home in my bronco from the parts store the throttle cable sticks. **** i find this out when i go to shift from third to fourth. when the clutch gets pushed in the motor screams, bounces of the rev limiter a four or five times before im able to turn the truck off throw it in neutral and coast to the next redlight. so i ***** around with the pedal and start it back and it does fine. let me rephrase that. it does fine until i try to shift from second to third. she starts to skyrocket again so get this..... i go from second to fifth and it actually doesnt die. it picks up and runs. so i manage to limp it back to the parts store, bought a cable and put it on right there in the parking lot and so far so good. throttle feels great and no apparent motor damage. other that a little oil seeping from the main seal. must have damaged it in the redline. surely this cant last much longer
