My wife's 97 Explorer has a bracket that holds the accelerator pedal to the firewall. The hardware (two bolts) for that bracket have mysteriously gone missing. Does anybody know what the specifications to that hardware so I can replace it? Right now the pedal just hangs from the accelerator cable.

I reckon I could buy it at Home Depot or Lowes if I knew what size to buy. I guess I'll try to call the dealership. The wrecking yard is a good option when I have no others. It's just out of my way. Thanks for the reply.

depending on the size of the bolt, its either 6,8,or 10 millimeter. Fords favorite size is 8x1.25. Some bolts, washers, and medium strength loc-tite (blue) outta do the trick. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. That's a good place to start.

As it turns out, my bracket was actually spot welded to the firewall. The three holes that I thought were for the hardware is actually where the welds broke.

A trip to Lowes to buy some self tapping sheet metal screws, and a little drilling...problem solved.
