I am swap[ping a 302 out and 351w in. Will the current auto trans bolt up ?

Are there any other complications I need to know about before ordering the engine?

All help and discussion is appreciated.

Just some advice from someone who'd done it, order up a new 302. The 351 isn't any more powerfull, just less efficient. I get 5-7 mpg. It runs hot, even with aluminum racing radiator, shoud, big puller fan, DUAL auxiliary pushers and an oil cooler. Again, what's the reason for wanting a 351? If it power, just get a better 302 or rebuild the one you have. That's my $.02

I have had Broncos powered with 302 & 351. There is some noticeable increase in the power of the the 351 over the 302.

The 351 I am going to is the 1996 Ford Lighting truck engine. 5.8 L.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for your response.

Ideas on fuel injection to use & ignition components? Headers?

Of course, all thing being equal, the engine with more cubes should have more power. I thought you were thinking carbureted.

Since you're doing an EFI motor from a modern swap, sure, why not go with a 5.8. I'll take the torque there. I'd also be curious as to fit of a modern 5.8 EFI and tranny compatibility issues.

I had a 351 in a bronco 2 with an explorer radiator and a perma cool black magic fan it worked just fine . The lightning motor should be a mass air system which is good but the problem your going to run into is the EEC is looking for signals back from the E4OD . You can get around them just have to do some research . If you go with a speed density computer get one from an 88/89 that had a C6 and youll be all set . I have had many of both motors and I will never have another 302 . The 351 is physically a couple of inches bigger not a big deal and in my opinion after 1977 the 302 should have been stricktly a car motor . I say this because of what they did with the cranks . Somewhere in 79 they went to a very light crank theres nothing to it but the bearing journals no rotating mass good for a small car but Id say bad for a heavy truck . Theres my 2 cents :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
