I just bought a 92 bronco 4x4 5.0 with the E4OD in it and we had it in my buddies backyard and took it up a small hill, half way up the motor started bogging down and I barely had any power to make it up the hill. Now when I drive it down the street no guages but the speedo work, the number 17 fuse blows out the second you put the key to the on position and it bogs down at like 10 mph and has no power after that. The fuse panel says that the number 17 is for guages and electronic transmission.

The bogging your feeling is very bad . The E4OD is completely electronic controlled . When you feel this bogging what is happening is tranny is not creating the pressure to apply to the clutch plates for enguagement and you slipping them like crazy . To test this put the tranny manually in 1st gear you should feel the difference it should feel positive when you hit the gas no slipping . The E4OD will operate full line pressure in 1st or 2nd gear as a limp mode to get you back should there be an electronic failure such as this . You should stop driving this immediately or you will be having the tranny rebuilt and depending on how much you have already the fluid should smell nasty and be burnt . You said you were climbing a hil when this happened so my suggestion would be that you get under the vehicle and look on the drivers side of the tranny in the cross member and frame rail for an electrical harness for the tranny . On the drivers side of the tranny top side of the pan there will be a black plug and a grey plug make sure there plugged in good and follow the wires through the frame and look for a spot that might have gotten smashed in you hill climbing experiment . Hope that helps ya :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I looked at the connectors and they both look good. when I get off this afternoon I'll go check for any shorts in the harness, if the harness is good I guess I should try to replace the box at the trans that the bigger black plug connects to, right?
