my 9" is tilted up for driveshaft angle and was wondering if anyone has ever tapped a hole for a drain pulg . would this be a good idea to weld a small length of pipe onto the housing and tap it for a drain plug and maybe a little gaurd for it?

I drilled out the bottom of the 9" and tapped the housing for a allen type plug. Installs flush with the bottom of the pumpkin. Works pro.

I would still put the little piece of pipe on, had an allen key type plug in my diff stuck out 1/8" , rock hit it lost my diff fluid, plugged it up with a bolt & ductape, filled it with 20w50 engine oil, as that was the best we could come up with at the time, got home but cooked my gears. First thing I did was the little pipe around the hole, you can never have too much protection! [-X
